Family Groups at Dundalk Pediatrics

ADHD Support Group
We have an invaluable resource for families of children with ADHD - a monthly parent support group that meets the second Thursday of each month (from 7:15 - 9 pm) in the waiting office at Dundalk Pediatrics. The meeting is sponsored by CHADD (CHADD.org). Light dinner is provided. It is a wonderful opportunity for parents to share their challenges and strategies for dealing with their own children with ADHD. Occasionally we have a speaker at the meeting but mostly it is a forum for sharing. The meeting are facilitated by Dr. Diana Fertsch and Dr. Sharyn Rhodes (a CHADD coordinator and special education expert).
Families Reading Together
Dr. Heather Wade has brought a wonderful program to Dundalk Pediatrics that encourages reading in families. It is called Reach out and Read (reachoutandread.org). Their website has a lot of background about this wonderful program. Pediatric providers in our office will hand out developmentally appropriate books at each well child visit between the ages of 6 months and 5 years of age. We will give parents pointers on how to interact with their children and books and also encourage families to read with their children regularly.
